Everyone loves ALL kinds of food here. I ask, what's your favorite food? And everyone just says, they love it all. I haven't met one person here that has a SPECIFIC dish they enjoy more. I can't shut up about aji de gallina and then they just say they like everything...and trust me, I ask a lot of people this question. Food is the main conversation here in Peru for Peace Corps volunteers, ha. Good ol' food, weather and the chacra (farm).
I don't know whether the food of Peru is just so salt drenched or it's a third world thing, but people in the states are picky compared to Peruvians. They eat whatever they're given and love it. They don't have the luxury of choice.
It's enlightening - just like whatever's put in front of you. I like it.
