Had lunch with some other volunteers and casually said I went for a swim in the river here in Tumbes. The water's brown and murky but I figured it's near the chacras (the banana and mango farms) so a little mud never hurt anybody. I knew the farmers use it as a bathroom, but all the kids were going in it so I decided to jump on in the filthy water too. Gained lots of COOLNESS POINTS with the kids for playing with them but not so much with the other volunteers. I guess I'm the first person to go in it for years, due to its contamination that caused others to get violently sick or rashes they could never get rid of. Now, nothing happened to me, but still...oops. They were joking there's probably some terrible rash on my back that I don't know of yet. Well, ignorance is bliss, bitches.
